David Starkey: The whites have become black

Popular culture
13 August, 2011

Historian David Starkey has told BBC’s Newsnight ”the whites have become black” in a discussion on the England riots. This interview shows Mr Starkey to be a clueless racist fart.

He also blames “that Jamaican patois” for the descent of the young. The language currently being spoken by young people is not patois. It is slang. People have been speaking slang from time immemorial, and as a historian, he should know the difference. He should also know that British people are used to adopting the language and customs of others.

I have to wonder if he has ever spoken to a black or young person even, outside of his job. Judging by his comments, the only people he has been exposed to are Ali G and the characters from Little Britain. Innit doe. Dickhead!

A lesson in Jamaican patois for Dickhead Starkey:

The official language of Jamaica is English. Jamaicans primarily speak an English-African Creole language known as Jamaican Patois, which has become known widely through the spread of Reggae music. Jamaican Patois was formed from a base of mainly English words with elements of re-formed grammar, together with a little vocabulary from African languages and Native American words. Some archaic features are reminiscent of Irish English.
